I just wasn't getting that throat hit I was desiring. I'm using this American Club with the premier non Menthol tubes and it's just like a Newport. I almost gave up on the RYO until I got this. I've used sparrow, Fargo, rio good stuff criss and gambler. All 3 pipe tobacco and all 3 menthol and always filled king size hot rod non menthol or long size golden harvest mom menthol tubes.
Seems like there's not enough nicotine in the pipe tobacco. So I started buying Texas Roll 'Em cigarette tobacco and continue with either brand tube mentioned above. Cigarette tobacco does cost much more but I was smoking twice as many cigarettes rolling up pipe tobacco. Still much cheaper than the Newports I've smoked for many years. I highly recommend cig tobacco over pipe tobacco less bang for your buck but more satisfying of a smoke. Thankyou for that most needed comment. I'm a beginner at rolling my own and like you am a Newport smoker. Your suggestions are a great start for me and perhaps a keeper.

In addition to cigarette companies directly influencing cigarette retail prices by providing coupons or other price-related discounts, companies may also indirectly affect cigarette prices by offering discounts to retailers and by promoting cigars or pipe tobacco that can be used in roll-your-own cigarettes. Our results show that the three leading cigarette companies in the USA continue to offer price discounts to smokers of their brands, although these promotions appear to be concentrated among their top-selling cigarette brands.
Cigarette companies can be strategic when offering price discounts. For example, existing literature suggests that young adults, women and heavy smokers are more frequently targeted for these promotions. The length duration of smoking and the amount of cigarettes smoked per day on days the person smoked is strongly associated with a higher likelihood of developing and dying from a smoking-related disease, such as lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or heart attacks.
